Our Story

We met Little Girl in January 2006 at the Sacramento SPCA. On a rainy day we decided to visit the SPCA in search of a furry kitty. We had spent hours looking for the purrfect family member. However after meeting several cats we did not feel like we had yet met the one. Little did we know that earlier a cat by the name of Snowball had tried to get our attention by pawing at us from her cage. Just as we were going to give up Joe remembered Snowball.

We walked up to a wall in a corner nook with nine cages lined up. Snowball was sitting in the back of her cage now. She was laying on her blanket and looked too tired to gain our attention again. Her black tipped white fur looked a bit disheveled but she still looked cute with her little white paws poking from under face.

After spending a little while with her she won us over and we knew she would be part of our family. She never responded to the name Snowball, so we started calling her Little Girl.

In March we realized that Little Girl needed company while we were at work. We returned to the SPCA several times until we found the right kitty for our growing family. On our last visit we found an eccentric orange tabby. He was playfully pawing at us through the window. We met several cats before we played with him. His name was Candy Bar and boy was he super sweet. When he and Joe met they became instant buddies. He came home with us that same day. We tried changing his name to Prince but he did not respond. So he is now Prince Andy or Bubba. Although I think he prefers Bubba as it’s his nickname his daddy uses. Andy is unlike any other cat we have ever met. We call him puppy kitty as he was raised with dogs and behaves more like a dog than a cat.

This is how our family of two became a family of four. We hope to update this site often with short updates through as we believe Little Girl and Andy may tell them.
